We have a date

Surgery to removal the expander and the Nevus is set for November 19th a Tuesday. I got t chose between that day and the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, that would mean Thanksgiving would not be a happy day for Haleigh. So I went with the earlier date. She has a Check up/ pre-op on the 11th. We must keep her well! We have to get rid of his cough and be careful. I understand you cant always keep kids from getting sick especially since I have other kids in school. But, I bought her special vitamins that have extra C in them and after Halloween tomorrow and the Fair on Sunday afternoon, we will be very picky on where we take her. No Wal-Mart for sure. And the week before surgery no Church, no nothing. I am even cutting her birthday small. I know that may sound over the top, but this has to happen on the 19th. I need this to happen with out delays because she is sick. She is ready to be done, I am ready for this part to be over. This has been physically and emotionally draining. The surgery is physically and emotionally draining as well and I am so tired already. I need this to be done before Thanksgiving, way before Christmas! Please pray that Haleigh gets and stays well and that surgery goes well for her.

Better

Haleigh is feeling better, we probably will not be doing a filling on Thursday, she needs to be completely well for that and still has a cough. I don't think I will need to wait another full week though. I am thinking by Saturday or Sunday she should be well enough to have a fill done.

We are taking our family to the fair on Sunday afternoon, its suppose to be a beautiful day. We were going tomorrow night, but I think it will be better for Haleigh not to be out on the windy mid-way at night. Got to keep that girl well!

Lost

I'm thinking maybe my message to the surgery scheduler got lost somewhere. I was told she should call me by today and well she didn't. I am going to give her a couple days I mean maybe she is trying to get us in so we are not there Thanksgiving Day. I would rather not be there that day. I really do want to know when its going to be though. I am a planner and I cant plan without a date.

Cough, Cough, Smile

Haleigh still has a nasty sounding cough. However she is Happy as can be and feeling good. I don't believe this cold is going to stick around very long. We want it gone!

I talked with Birmingham this morning and they are scheduling her surgery and calling me back today or tomorrow with a surgery date. Said to make sure she is drinking a lot of fluids and as long as she has no more fever she doesn't need any meds at the moment. If her expander gets red call right away and We can move surgery up or give her antibotics if needed, but because of all the new super bugs out there they don't like to give meds unless they actually are developing an infection. I agree with that.

Not much longer!

Sick

Haleigh developed a cough yesterday. And a slight fever early this morning. It was 100.5, nothing big. We didn't treat the fever it went away on its own. Today her nose is runny and she has a cough. I know she got this virus from Landon. He's been sick most if last week and is getting better now.

Please pray Haleigh gets better fast. 

We can't fill when she's sick. I am calling the dr tomorrow because apparently some of the other kids that have expanders when they get a cold the dr puts them on antibiotics because the virus can settle around the expander and develop into an infection. So they prevent that with antibiotics. I don't like to use antibiotics when I don't need to. But I guess this is a need.  We also can't remove if she's sick. So she really has to get better! 

Cold and Flu season

I am guessing Haleigh has her seasons messed up, or maybe we are just more careful in the winter.

Last spring Haleigh developed a cough that lasted 2 months I took her to the Dr a couple times and we were given a couple different meds to try 1st an antibiotic then an allergy med then a liquid steroid. That helped for the 5 days she was on it then 2 days off and she was coughing again! So her doctor said she had asthma, we were given breathing treatments, 2 meds 3 times a day at 1st then after a week 2 meds once a day. If we missed any we knew if, we took all her meds everywhere we went. Last summer we spent a lot of time in the doctors office whezzy. We also had lots of fevers and colds and ear infections.

One weekend we went out of town it was november and we stayed longer than we planned and I ran out of meds, she was with out the one night and I got them filled where we were, but she was doing good so Jason and I decided to see if she still needed them. She had been on them for 6 months. Well Haleigh did great and we have not had to give her any treatments intill today. She went through 2 surgeries, and ALL winter with out any help, she has actually been really healthy, no bad cough or cold no flu, we were blessed through winter with good health.

Now that the weather is nice out, and we are out side a lot and I guess I take her out more because its not cold, well she has a fever, developed a cough in the last week, that is not going away and tonigh at the ball park she was wheezy! She has a compleate cold with runny nose, I need to teach her when cold and flu season is I guess.

Right now its 1135 PM and she is laying watching Finding Nemo. She has not been active all day and I am sure we are going to have a long night.

I don't think it would be wise for us to schedule a surgery in the summer time, I think Haleigh has some allergies that only come out in the summer, although when we went to the allergy doctor we were told she was mildly allergic to Dust, pollen, rag weed, and grass. But that none of her allergies were bad enough to need any meds or to see him again! Well right now I beg to differ, but instead I will get her some zertec and albuteol and yet to get through the summer with out any bad spells!

Quick Sickness

Haleigh has been slightly sick this week, Sunday afternoon she woke up from her nap with crusty eyes. Actually it was just one eye, but by Monday morning it was both eyes. Took her to see the doctor Monday morning, and both eyes were infected, all eye infections are called pink eye, so we got her eye drops, thank goodness for insurance they would have been 90$, and she is now getting better.

I hate doing the drops. She hates them and the way she cries before, during, and after us so heart braking, but I do it any way because I know she needs them, they are helping, she is getting better. Her eyes are not red any more and they are not crusty any more either. She has to have the drops until Monday.

I hate any of my kids getting sick, but I have to set I like them having something you can give a little something to them and make them better vs. The we don't know what is wrong sick for 2 weeks before getting better sicknesses! Those I really hate!

Haleigh is sick

Haleigh got up yesterday morning, after not sleeping much, with a runny nose. Yesterday afternoon she started to run fever and coughing. Last night a gave her a warm bath and some Advil and put her to bed, an hour later Jason went into her room to check on her and she was on the floor with her pillow and blanket. She has learned to climb out of her baby bed! She was also so stuffed up and coughing, so I took her out in the night air while Jason sat up her breathing treatment, as she was wheezing too. That was at 10:30 pm, we were then up at 1am for a treatment and meds, 5:30 for treatment and meds. and because Landon had another appointment today my mom gave her one at 10:30am. She woke up on her own coughing and wheezing. So we had to cancel her GI appointment that was to see if we could take her off her formula, the next appointment we could get was for December 16th, yes December 16th, but at least its of this year! She has an appointment in about an hour, I wanted them to listen to her, but I am not sure there is any thing else they can give her, She's already on the breathing treatments. I guess I just want to be sure there is nothing in her lungs and that her ears are clear.
